Warm Tones & Fiery Lids for Blue Eyes

Orange you glad I didn't say Kylie Jenner?!

I know this looks like another Kylie Jenner inspired look, sorrynotsorry for loving the teens makeup trends, but it's actually not! I wore this look on a day when I was running late, for it's a quick way to look super glam. Little did I know I would get so many compliments and questions on what eyeshadow I was rocking, so I figured why not share the big secret with you all as well!
- and I just happened to be playing with these fun extensions when I sat down to re-create this look.

I love orange tones on blue eyes. Being opposites on the color wheel, this is a fool-proof way to make your eyes pop and steal the show. And while this look is aimed more towards light colored eyes, it's still a beautiful look on all colors!

To amp up this look for a night out I added more definition in the crease and popped on some falsies. You can totally skip these steps however, and just keep it simple with a shimmery lid and blown out crease for a more daytime/no fuss look.

To complete this makeup look I stayed true to the fiery orange theme. By using products that posses the same undertones as the eyeshadows, skin looks glowing and warm while providing an overall harmonious feel.

Of course I had to finish off with my current obsession from Colourpop Cosmetics! If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon for these matte lippies, or this brand in general, I'll go ahead and save you a seat. I mean, does this lip make anyone else super excited for fall makeup?!

Get Ready With Me; Concert Glam

Last Monday my mom and I went to see Sam Smith, aka my ears got to experience the voice of an angel; seriously he was SO amazing.
Anyways, I figured what better time than a fun night out to do something different from my everyday neutral, or smokey eye looks!

I wanted to create something glitzy and sexy, but appropriate for any night time occasion. However, the flashing lights and rockstar vibes of a concert really inspired me to adorn my lids in cool tones and shimmer!

While this makeup may seem complicated, it's really just four eyeshades blended together- 3 and a half if you want to be specific, for I only applied the champagne shade on the center of my lids. So you can spend more time deciding on the perfect outfit rather than worrying if your makeup is fleecy or not (spoiler alert- #makeuponfleek).

If you have a more rounded eye shape, like myself, concentrating the thickest part of the liner outward and almost nonexistent inwards gives the appearance of more almond, seductive cat eye shape.

If you're not a pro at liner, or don't want to run out of time perfecting a crispy wing, just skip this part and pop on some dramatic, wispy lashes. But remember, do not fear the liner, let the liner fear you; and practice makes perfect!

I finished off this look with one of the new Colourpop Cosmetics ultra matte lippie, and I'm totally in love! This shade is a nice mauve, cool toned stone which is not only a perfect transition color into fall, but gives off that cool girl vibe. Not to mention, it lasted all night without needing any touch-ups!

Quick Tip; s t r o b i n g

With the end of this trend no where in sight, I thought I would share a few tips, and what strobing basically is!

Intense highlighting, better known as strobing is just that- layering different mediums of highlighter to create an intense glow.

Strobing eliminates contours or shadows while still giving the appearance of a more sculpted face with the use of light, for light brings features forward (think higher looking cheekbones).

To achieve this glowy look, I recommend using both creams and powders, and applying them anywhere light would naturally hit the face:
tops of cheekbones, above the brows, down the bridge of the nose, tip of the nose, and cupids bow.
Creams not only provide an added highlight, but act as a base for any powders you layer on top. To finish off the look you can use a spray like MAC's fix + to help powders melt into the skin, giving a more wet and dewy look. - you can also start your look with an illuminating primer for an overall glowy appearance!

*products used:

LORAC: Behind the Scenes- Eyeshadow Primer
ANASTASIA BH: Peach (crease/ lower lash line)
the BALM COSMETICS: Mary-Lou Manizer (lid/ brow bone/ inner corners)
COVERGIRL: Lash Blast Mascara
ARDELL: Natural 110
NYX: Micro Brow Pencil
LAURA MERCIER: Radiance Primer
MAKEUP FOREVER: Ultra HD Foundation
L.A. GIRL: HD Concealer- Porcelain (conceal & brighten)
COVERGIRL: Ready, Set, Gorgeous Concealer- Light (highlight)
SMASHBOX: Contour Stick Trio- Bronze (to bring warmth to face)
BENEFIT: Watts Up (cream highlighter)
the BALM COSMETICS: Mary-Lou Manizer (powder highlighter)
LAURA MERCIER: Translucent Powder (set under-eyes/ foundation)
NARS: Super Orgasm Blush
ANASTASIA BH: Undressed Lip Gloss

& yes, I did lightly apply a bronzer to warm up my skin, rather than to contour. Using a cream bronzer versus a powder will also help give skin a more natural glowing look.

July Top 5 Beauty Favorites

Better a few days late than never, right?!

Smashbox- Photo Finish Primer Water:
So I'm a little late to the game on this one, but after running out of my hydrating primer (which is one of my holy grail products) I decided to try Smashbox's newest primer and I'm totally obsessed! This stuff is basically like Gatorade, or Smart Water for your face! Enriched with electrolytes, and formulated without silicone, alcohol, or fragrance, this primer sets skin up for makeup application while instantly refreshing. Also provides hydration throughout the day resulting in flawless, long-lasting makeup!

Anastasia BH- Pure Hollywood & Mac- Spice:
My go-to nude lip for what seems like forever! Both products are highly pigmented and super long lasting, even through eating and drinking. The creamy formula of the ABH lippie ensures comfortable wear, but like with any liquid lipsticks, applying a lip balm before will help lips to stay hydrated. This combination is the perfect pinky-nude with just the right amount of peach.

L.A. Girl- HD Concealer, Porcelain:
I've been a fan of this concealer for quite awhile, but rediscovered my love when I finally got ahold of this shade. Seriously any fairer, or medium skin tones who love an intense highlight, this product is your new BFF! Highly pigmented and full coverage, this concealer conceals and brightens with minimal creasing in the under-eye area. And it retails for about $5, can't beat a bargain like that!

Smashbox- Contour Stick Trio, Bronze:
With it being summer I've been loving the bronze shade of this trio. Extremely creamy and buttery, this product blends seamlessly, warming up the skin. Not too orange, this shade provides a more natural tan which any skin tone can wear. Top it off with your favorite setting powder, or powder bronzer for a more intense glow!

Sally Hansen- Airbrush Legs, Medium:
Bronzed goddess in a bottle! If it's looked like I've had a tan this month, it was probably this rubbed all over my body. I know it says smooth on perfect legs, but why stop there?! Provides a natural, even tan without the commitment; it washes right off in the shower. Personally, I prefer this lotion over the original spray.

*Nails: Essie- Topless & Barefoot

Until next month...
